NZ0040 : Two shooting huts and a hill road

taken 14 days ago, near to Crawleyside, County Durham, Great Britain

Two shooting huts and a hill road
Two shooting huts and a hill road
The larger of the buildings is kept locked and is presumably a main refreshment hut for shooting parties; the other is generally left unlocked and is of use as a shelter for folk walking on the moors. The road rises from the end of East Lane out of Stanhope and climbs all the way to the summit area of Collier Law. Contrary to what might be assumed from the image, the ascent to Collier Law would be made by first descending the road behind the camera position. Equally, to descend to Stanhope one would first need to climb past the buildings.
