The Great Hospital - Boulton & Paul gate
The Great Hospital - Boulton & Paul gate
The gates were made by Boulton & Paul of Norwich > Link. The green oval beyond is St Helen's Square.

The forecourt railings, gates and gatepieces were designed in 1799 by John Browne 'in accordance with Mr Bird's plan', comprising hollow iron gate pieces with lattice panels and ball finials flanking wrought iron double gates. The spearhead railings to left and right are mounted on a stone dwarf wall and have nine iron panels. Smaller gates to right and left are flanked by (later) brick piers with ball finials. The ensemble is Grade 2 listed.
