Cannon on display in the Great Hospital's Refectory
At the time of Kett's Rebellion in 1549, the city's cannon were located in the Great Hospital fields. The rebels confronted Northamptonís army in Holme Street (as Bishopgate was then called) and the Great Hospitalís walls were
broken down to enable Kettís men to storm into Norwich. Perhaps the cannon on display in the refectory dates from that time.
