NY9039 : White's Level

taken 7 days ago, near to Westgate, County Durham, Great Britain

White's Level
White's Level
White's Level is virtually at the centre of the image; it was the main access for the Middlehope Shield Mine in Middle Hope, a tributary valley to that of the River Wear. As with many mine levels water drains from the level running into a small reservoir, out of view in the image; it's now largely overgrown with vegetation.
