NT7825 : Old lade for Linton Mill

taken 1 month ago, near to Linton, Scottish Borders, Great Britain

Old lade for Linton Mill
Old lade for Linton Mill
Leaving the Kale Water just below the road bridge over the river here, there was once a weir (mapped as a caul) across the river to give a head for this. The lade runs beside the lane towards Linton Burnfoot as far as the bridge over the Linton Loch drain. The drain is deeply dug, a good deal lower than the lade. I have a suspicion that there was an aqueduct over the drain there, somewhere under the bridge, as the lade used to continue on the other side of the lane and north of the drain.
