Eastward view from the bank of the straightened River Cuckmere
In the foreground, this photo shows salt marsh on the floodplain of the straightened River Cuckmere. Further to the east, there is part of the straight cut of the active River Cuckmere and dislodged concrete blocks which line its inner bank. In the distance, blue coloured water shows the course of the old river while a white line of exposed chalk marks the river cliff which was cut by that part of the river when it was active.
