The wall behind is the west boundary of Whitburn Hall.

The Winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis) from southern Europe is a member of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) and is one of the first plants to bloom in gardens in mid-January. It has widely naturalised in plantations, on roadsides and in churchyards.
