Greenock Cruise Ship Centre :: NS2776

A berth for large cruise ships and a visitor centre for their passengers are under construction at Greenock Waterfront. The cost of the £20m project is being shared by Peel Ports (owners of the adjacent Greenock Ocean Terminal), the Glasgow City Region City Deal Fund and the George Wyllie Foundation via arts funder the Dunard Trust. The project is being led by Inverclyde Council.

The new facility will enable up to 150,000 passengers a year to pass through Greenock Ocean Terminal, where in addition to the cruise ship facilities they can explore a purpose-built gallery celebrating the work of the late Gourock artist George Wyllie. There will also be a restaurant with panoramic views of the Clyde.

It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2020, which will be a challenge as ground is only being broken in January 2020.
