SD3347 : Fleetwood St Peter War Memorial is situated in front of St Peter’s Church, Lord Street. It commemorates the members of the parish who were killed or missing in the First World War. It is possible that this was the first war memorial that was erected in Fleetwood
Link , pre-dating the town’s “official” war memorial (
SD3247 : Fleetwood War Memorial) which was unveiled in 1927 at Memorial Park.
The memorial is in the form of a stone cross, with a two-stepped circular base surmounted by a rectangular plinth, tapering shaft and cross. The inscription is in relief on the sides of the plinth. There are two figures of angels, one holding a wreath and one in a praying position, that surmount the left and right-hand sides of the plinth.
