Matchstick Man and his Dog
Matchstick Man and his Dog
Celebrated artist LS Lowry was a frequent visitor to Knott End in the 1940s and 1950s and produced a number of sketches/paintings depicting scenes from the area including views across the River Wyre towards Fleetwood.

In recognition of the artist's connection with the area, this sculpture, entitled "Matchstick Man and his Dog". was erected in his honour on the seafront at Knott End (near the ferry slipway) where Lowry is known to have stood and sketched. Lowry’s sketches, drawn from this spot, became the basis of his 1957 painting “Jetty at Knott End” LinkExternal link.
