Cale Cross House
Built 1972-8 by Hubbard, Ford & Partners and described by Pevsner as "an uncompromising glass-clad tower block". It was re-clad in 2002 by Ove Arup & Partners. There are plans to convert the block into residential use LinkExternal link . Another worthy recipient of the accolade of being one of Newcastle's Masterpieces of Modern Architecture Link - especially as it dominates the approach to the city for those travelling north over the Tyne Bridge NZ2563 : Approaching Cale Cross from the Tyne Bridge (photographed by Alan Heardman).
