The station was opened in 1897 by the Metropolitan Railway as Waddesdon Manor, later renamed. It closed in 1936 when the London Passenger Transport Board was formed. The railway, then double track, continued in passenger use until 1966 as it also formed the main Great Central route out of Marylebone.
