Fountain on the Great North Road
This stands at the end of Forsyth Road, at its junction with the Great North Road on the west side of Jesmond. There seems to be a lot of mystery about it, however. It is inscribed to the memory of Edwin Dodd Colvill, and was erected in his memory by his sister in 1889. It once rested against a building, so this is probably not its original location. The only thing known about Colvill is that he was a coal fitter who worked from an office in Exchange Buildings on Newcastle's Quayside.
