taken 4 years ago, near to Plenmeller, Northumberland, England

Stony bank in the River South Tyne
Stony bank in the River South Tyne
A civil parish boundary runs along the ridge of this bank, indicating it was once the centre of the river. Now the river lies beyond [south of] the bank. The water in the foreground is a backwater. This is just upstream [west] of Haltwhistle Burn.
