Jesmond Parish Church
Jesmond Parish Church
This is unusual for an Anglican church in having no dedicated saint. Its official name is the Clayton Memorial Church, named after the evangelical vicar of St Thomas's church in the nearby Haymarket area of Newcastle city centre. After his death in 1856, his successor was high church, and many of the congregation left and founded this new church, designed by the famous Newcastle architect John Dodson, and opened in 1861.
