ST1974 : Rusting lock gate, Cardiff

taken 4 years ago, 3 km from Cardiff/Caerdydd, Wales

Rusting lock gate, Cardiff
In the left foreground is one of the disused and deteriorating gates on the cut connecting Roath Basin (behind the photographer) with Roath Dock on the other side of the distant swing bridge. The grey and red building on the right is HMS Cambria (a Royal Navy shore establishment used by the Royal Navy Reserve). The blue sheds beyond are part of Associated British Port's Cardiff docks. Abandoned docks flanked by modern apartments are no substitute for vibrant commercially active docks.
