Sluice maintenance on the Cardiff Bay Barrage
Sluice maintenance on the Cardiff Bay Barrage
The Cardiff Bay Barrage closes the entrance to Cardiff Bay creating a 500 acre fresh water lake with the impounded waters of the Rivers Taff and Ely. The barrage includes sluices to control the level in the enclosed lake and three locks to allow boats to sail into the enclosed lake to access quays on the waterfront. Some work was being undertaken on one of the hydraulically operated sluices.
