Napoleon Commemorative Stone
Napoleon Commemorative Stone
This stone is two pieces of Dartmoor Granite and a piece of Volcanic rock from St Helena. The stone commemorated 200 years of peace between Britain and France when it was unveiled in 2015. The Granite represents Dartmoor prison, where French soldiers were imprisoned during the Napoleonic wars. The volcanic rock is from where Napoleon died in exile. The stone is located overlooking Plymouth Sound where Napoleon was detained on HMS Bellerophon for 9 days in 1815.
