The boat on the far side. Osprey was built at Bowness in 1902 as a steam launch, and was converted to diesel power for a time. Extensive restoration work was required to recreate a working steam launch, which is now used for boat trips from the museum.
Windermere Jetty Museum

The Windermere Jetty Museum of Boats, Steam & Stories opened in 2019. The old Windermere Steamboat Museum, which opened here in 1977, closed in 2006 for redevelopment. The plans were not helped by floods in November 2009. Rebuilding started in 2015.
The main features of the museum are the gallery, conservation workshop and boat house. The latter enables restored boats to provide trips on the lake.
The exhibits are not confined to steamboats, but include sailing dinghies, hydroplanes and an old rowing ferry.
