Mute swans, Auchinstarry Quarry
Mute swans, Auchinstarry Quarry
The quarry is in an outcrop of quartz microgabbro, and opened in the early 1800s. It supplied kerbs and cobblestones to the city of Glasgow. The flooded quarry is now a popular park for picnickers and rock climbers.
