Looking along Willington Gut
Looking along Willington Gut
View along this tidal stream in Willington Dene to the huge railway viaduct which crosses it. This was built in 1838 originally in wood on masonry piers. The wooden upper structure was replaced by wrought iron in 1869, and it now carries the Metro. Haggies Ropeworks once occupied the right hand bank of the stream.
