Weeley: The Village Pond
The Village Pond is north-west of the junction of the B1033 Thorpe Road with Crow Lane.
A Weeley Parish Council notice board at the site states that it was known variously as Sparrows Pond and more recently as Reed Pond, and was used to water horses on the way to, and back from, the coast during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The 1874 large scale Ordnance Survey map shows that it was substantially larger then than it is now, filling in the entire space up to Thorpe Road and Crow Lane.
