Harwich: The Low Lighthouse
Harwich: The Low Lighthouse
Built in 1818, the Low Lighthouse together with the High Lighthouse TM2632 : Harwich: The High Lighthouse when lined up provided leading lights for ships entering Harwich Harbour. However over time and the silting up of the channel they highlighted they no longer safely guided ships safely past the shoals, and became known as 'misleading lights'. Their use was discontinued in 1863.

The Low Lighthouse is both a Grade II Listed Building and a Scheduled Monument.
