NS6662 : Landfill

taken 19 years ago, near to Carmyle, Glasgow, Scotland

Landfill
Landfill
Situated between Mount Vernon Station, Glasgow, and the M74 motorway, this spoil tip is gradually being filled in. The waste gases (methane) given off by the rubbish tip which is being covered over used to be flared off. New technology means it can be collected via the pipes strewn about, and compressed by the machine pictured so it can be stored in re-usable form, as a fuel gas.
