SO0214 : Who put this here?

taken 7 days ago, near to Nant-Ddu, Powys, Great Britain

Who put this here?
Who put this here?
Would stock control have been necessary? Would it even have been possible over such a large area? How much effort would it have taken to construct and maintain a fence? When would a farmer have attempted such a task and over what period would it have been effective? Why did he eventually give up and stop trying? And why did he remove most of the posts, leaving just a few?

Lonely sentinels in a bleak landscape and a reminder of times past. Or just a broken old fence post? See also SO0212 : All that remains of a former fenceline
