SD4889 : Looking across Lyth Valley

taken 17 years ago, near to Brigsteer, Cumbria, England

Looking across Lyth Valley
Looking across Lyth Valley
From this point, close to the junction of the Kendal - Brigsteer road and the lane to Helsington church, land falls away steeply to give spectacular views across the Lyth Valley, and to Morecambe Bay beyond. This day had dawned foggy, but by the time this picture was taken in late morning the fog had cleared from the higher ground but was lingering in the valley. The trees poking through the fog have a rather surreal appearance.
