St John's, Edinburgh: Hunter memorial
A memorial on the north wall, to Captain William Hunter, who died "instantaneously within this House of God" on 30 April 1843, and his wife.
St John's Episcopal Church, Edinburgh
The prominent church building at the west end of Princes Street was first built in 1816-18, extended with a chancel in 1879-82 and further extended at various times in the 20th and early 21st centuries. It is a parish of the Episcopal (Anglican) church rather than the Church of Scotland. The buildings and its churchyard are category A listed (LB27401) and fall within the World Heritage Site. The church will always be associated with its first incumbent, later Dean, Edward Ramsay whose memorial cross stands close to the church and is included in the listing.
