A public bridleway crosses this stone bridge under which passes the old Avenue Branch of the Blyth & Tyne Railway. This branch line was opened in 1860, and at the time of the first Ordnance Survey Six-Inch map of the area of 1865 the track, which crossed over the bridge, linked the various settlements within Holywell Dene, including Silver Hill, with nearby Holywell village.
