Two Raised Manholes near Brier Dene Farm, Whitley Bay
These raised manholes appear to stand immediately above the course of the Brierdene Burn which run beneath the full length of this particular field. When the first Ordnance Survey Six-Inch map of the area was published in 1865 the burn had not been culverted, and it appears that this did not happen until some time after 1947.
