These stairs give access to and egress from the Northern Promenade, near Watts Slope, to Whitley Bay Beach, and where refurbished and reconstructed as part of the Northern Promenade improvement scheme. They opened to the public in September 2017, and are one of a number of similar sets of stairs along this stretch of the promenade. In the background stands the iconic, Grade II Listed building known variously as the Spanish City, the Rotunda and The Dome.
