Steps, east end of York Promenade, Royal Leamington Spa
I recall that these steps were reconstructed in the 1980s. No handrail was installed although there had been one originally as can be seen in the stonework, left. The reverse view is SP3165 : York Promenade meets Library Walk, Leamington. York Promenade was laid out in 1893 soon after the site, a nursery, was acquired by the Corporation. The Borough Engineer, Mr de Normanville, constructed York Bridge, to the right of the camera, to connect the walk to the Pump Room Gardens SP3165 : York Bridge, Royal Leamington Spa. The western end of the Promenade connects to the New River Walk via a subway through the south abutment of Adelaide Bridge SP3165 : Pedestrian subway, Adelaide Bridge, Leamington.
