The crop is a field of 'runches' - an oilseed rape type of plant, yellow flowering about now but intended as feed rather than oil production. The crop has been marauded by forest-dwellers at the field edge here but was thriving and flowering in the body of the field. The term 'runches' may have been 'volunteers' of this species popping up in subsequent crops rather than a crop name in itself. I am not sure as I only ever heard my father use the term!
Addendum: unintentional misinformation! It is oilseed rape!!
