SE1572 : Pivot Benchmark on Old Boundary Stone

Pivot Benchmark on Old Boundary Stone
Pivot Benchmark on Old Boundary Stone
After a great deal of heaving, I was able to roll the boundary stone over, to reveal an old style benchmark and a faint F cut in the face that has spent years laid in the heather.
I subsequently rolled it back into place after my investigations had been completed.
The Benchmark is shown on the 1890 OS Map of the area as 1264.4ft, but its estimated position given it's lying in the turf rather than at the top of the old BS would be 1260ft give or take a couple of inches.
