The Horseshoe
"The Horseshoe" is the informal, descriptive name for the island in the foreground of the photo whereas it is marked as "Spectacle" on modern, Ordnance Survey maps. This is a similar practice to using the everyday name "Elephant Rock" for the Rock of St Skeoch at Boddin near the northern side of Lunan Bay.
