SN8814 : A long way down"Wandering" off tracks is a normal occupation here. While the Sitka area is useless for the purpose, the nearby moorland is perhaps the best area in Wales for orienteering and is occassionally used for major events. Sink holes make great control sites.
Sadly there are few forested karst areas in Britain, but wooded versions in the Balkans are probably the techincally hardest of terrains used for orienteering.
The biggest hazard off track now on the moors above Ogof Ffynnon Ddu is the long grass. The moor is no longer grazed.
