SE3520 : Former pipeline supports, Ashfields

taken 5 years ago, near to Wakefield, England

Former pipeline supports, Ashfields
Former pipeline supports, Ashfields
A pair of concrete cradles for two pipelines. This area, on the east bank of the Calder, was opencast in the 1950s and 1960s. The resulting holes were used as lagoons for piped pulverised fuel ash, until Wakefield power station closed in 1994. Now it is an SSSI and a popular place to walk and cycle.
