Former pipeline supports under an Ashfields tree
Once you get your eye in, you can see them in the undergrowth all along the riverbank path. This area was opencast in the 1950s and 1960s. The resulting holes were used as lagoons for piped pulverised fuel ash, until Wakefield power station closed in 1994. Now it is an SSSI and a popular place to walk and cycle.
