Philips Park Local Nature Reserve :: SD7904

Philips Park was officially declared as Bury's first Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in October 1999, a designation recognising its importance for wildlife, education and recreation to the local community.

The LNR includes the estate of the Philips family developed between 1790 and 1950 as well as former industrial land in the valley bottom. The variety of flora and fauna present is largely due to the diversity of habitats that include streams and lodges, woodland, meadows and grassland.
