One of the largest areas of spoil this side of Craven Moor, dug out when the Bradford Water Corporation built their underground aqueduct from Scar House Reservoir at the head of Nidderdale to the outskirts of Bradford at the turn of the 20thC. This is itself being dug into by modern machines to provide hardcore to repair the Forest Road and Blackhill Road.
