The view across to Simon's Seat in the distance is quite apt, as the sandstone that makes up these two rock formations is the same Pendleian Age Millstone Grit.
A very course-grained feldspathic sandstone, interbedded with grey siltstones & mudstones. On Simon's Seat it is around 180m thick, but, here at Craven Moor it is only 90m thick, it has a slight dip in the bedding due to the North Craven Fault
