Kirkburton Parish Walks

The Kirkburton Parish Walks are all between 4 and 6 miles long, each walk is set within a village in the parish of Kirkburton, and is named after a local historical character. On each walk a modern waymarker can be found depicting a feature of that village. The waymarkers have been created by stone mason and sculptor Dave Bradbury from Shepley, and they are based on a local historic guide stoop SE1611 : Old Milestone. A guide/map for each walk can be downloaded from the internet at: LinkExternal link
The ten walks are:
'Jessop's Jaunt' named after Mary-Ann Jessop, the firework maker from Lepton.
'Hester's Haunt' named after the vicar's wife from Kirkburton.
'Fitton Frolic' named after Albert Fitton, a corseteer from Shelley.
'Higgler Hike' named after The Higgler, a shrewd tailor from Shepley.
'Billy Sweep Saunter' named after Billy Sweep, a chimney sweep from Flockton.
'Molly Mangle's Meander' named after Molly Mangle, the only lady with a mangle from Thurstonland and Stocksmoor.
'Wardroper Wander' named after Rev Cutfield Wardroper, the vicar from Farnley Tyas.
'PC Dibb Dash' named after the policeman from Highburton.
'Lizzie's Lollop' named after Lizzie Drake, the lovely but tragic little girl from Kirkheaton.
'Beaumont's Bolt' named after Richard Beaumont, a highwayman from Grange Moor.
