Reopened Old Shaft
Reopened Old Shaft
In an area known as Tiddly Groove, another ancient rake, this old shaft was reopened in the 1950s or early 60s by men looking for fluorite. Where it was worth working incline shafts were subsequently built, which made extraction easier than hauling up old shafts.
If you do decide to investigate this one, take great care, there is an old piece of metal sheeting over the top of the hole, and the sides are very crumbly!
