Sand Martin Colony
Sand Martin Colony
The fine layer near the top of the cliff at Essil is occupied every summer by a colony of Sand Martins which excavate their nesting burrows in the sand. There is a bird visible in the bottom left burrow. Take with a zoom lens from the opposite bank of the river.
