SO6210 : Central Bridge, Forest of Dean

Central Bridge, Forest of Dean
Central Bridge, Forest of Dean
Another view of Central Bridge, which once carried the Severn & Wye's mineral loop over a forest ride. It is possible that the bridge was built in order to accommodate the ill-fated Forest of Dean Central Railway's line, but in actual fact that line never made it this far (most of its potential traffic having either disappeared or been taken by the S&W's line) and in any case, was more likely to have been crossed either on the level or via another bridge, long since demolished. Anyway, it's called Central Bridge and here's a picture of it. The full story of the railways concerned is at LinkExternal link
