Best viewed from the air due to the amount of ivy that now obscures a bawn wall enclosing an area of 45m by 40m having square towers at each of the corners. On the south and SW sides are the remains of a two storey range containing windows and fireplaces. Google Maps view: LinkExternal link

The castle once belonged to the Purcells until the 1650s, and was stormed in 1581 by the English who murdered some 150 women and children.
