Achnasheen Station
Achnasheen Station
The railway station at Achnasheen opened in 1870 putting this remote Highland hamlet on the map, becoming the railhead for mail and freight for much of Wester Ross. When this photograph was taken in 1985 British Rail still operated the station and the name board seen here is of the standard BR design although Scotland's railways were shortly to be privatised. In the background is the River Bran.
