Summit of the Cobbler
Summit of the Cobbler
The central and the highest of the three tops of the Cobbler and one of the trickiest of mainland Scotland mountain summits to reach. Despite appearances the ascent isn't technically difficult - a scramble rather than a rock climb. The approach is from the left in the image, behind the boulders there, stepping up to reach a hole perforating the pinnacle and passing through it to emerge on to the shelf below the right side of the summit block - no real need to get too close to the edge which overlooks the long drop. A little squirming among and up rocks follows, (out of view in the image), and the flat summit platform is there. Then you have to reverse it!
