Duthie Park: valve arrangement in the winter gardens
The David Welch Winter Gardens is a collection of glasshouses at the northern end of the park, claimed to be one of the largest such gardens in Europe. Originally opened in 1899, the greenhouses had to be demolished and rebuilt after suffering storm damage in 1969.

A complex system of heating pipes maintains the temperature in each of the glasshouses at an appropriate level.
Exact location and view direction not noted.
Duthie Park, Aberdeen

A 44 acre (18 hectare) park to the south of Aberdeen city centre and near the north bank of the river Dee. The park is named after Miss Duthie (sources variously give her first name as Charlotte or Elizabeth), who bought the land for a public park, and her brother and uncles to whose memory she dedicated it. Construction started in 1881 and it opened on 27 September 1883. After becoming somewhat neglected in the later 20th century, it was extensively restored in 2012.

Key features include the David Welch Winter Gardens, Gordon Highlanders Memorial, Hygeia statue, McGrigor Obelisk, bandstand, Iron Bridge, Pavilion, Temperance Fountain, and a cascade of lakes.

The park is listed by Historic Environment Scotland as a Designated Garden Landscape (GDL00166). Several individual features are separately listed.
