Brodsworth Hall is one of the most complete surviving examples of a Victorian country house in England and as such, has been designated as a Grade I listed building (List entry Number: 1001250 LinkExternal link Historic England). The Hall, which was designed in the Italianate style, has remained virtually unchanged since it was completed in 1870. Following the death of the last resident of the house, the Hall and its gardens were given to English Heritage in 1990. The contents of the house were purchased by the National Heritage Memorial Fund and transferred to the ownership of English Heritage. It was decided to conserve the interiors "as found" rather than replacing or restoring them.

Brodsworth gardens are an excellent example of high Victorian horticulture, a snapshot of a period when money was no object. The gardens, a collection of 'grand gardens in miniature' LinkExternal link , were Originally laid out in 1863 by Charles Sabine Augustus Thellusson. They continued to develop for over 30 years until the wealth of the family started to decline, instigated by the start of the First World War. Since being acquired by English Heritage in 1990, the gardens have been restored to their full Victorian splendour. House and garden are managed by English Heritage and are open to the public (LinkExternal link English Heritage).
