SS Northern Cross at Stapleford Park
SS Northern Cross at Stapleford Park
Stapleford Park, with its miniature railway using real steam engines, was a major tourist attraction in the 1960s. As well as the trains it was possible to take a trip on the lake aboard a miniature ocean liner. She was built by Curwen and Newbury and began operations in June 1963. There was always considerable attention to detail and this view shows the captain looking very much the part.
